Type O Durometers
The Models 410, 411, and 413 are all similar in outward appearance, however, by using various combinations of spring forces and indenter shapes, these durometers cover a wide range of material hardness. These durometers use the same die cast aluminum case as the Models 408 and 409 durometers. They have a removable threaded mounting knob at the top of the instrument and the base tapers to approximately 1" x 1". The Model 412 because of its larger, 1/2" hemispherical indenter, uses a body style as the 306L and 307L durometers. Models 410, 411, and 413 meet or exceed current ASTM D2240 specifications.
The Model 410 can be used with Model 320 Test Stand. The Models 411 and 412 can be used with a Model 470 Deadweight Test Stand. The Model 413 can be used with either a Model 320 or 475 stand.
The durometers come with a test block and carrying case.
Model 410 Type O Durometer The Model 410 uses a mainspring that has a load force of 821 gf and a 3/32" hemispherical indenter. This durometer is for testing materials such as soft printing rollers, textile windings, and other similar materials. The Model 410 has a lazy hand (ancillary hand) which holds the maximum reading.
Model 411 Type OO Durometer Model 411 has a mainspring with a load force of 113 gf and a 3/32" hemispherical indenter. This instrument is used to test the hardness of materials such as sponge rubber, soft rubber, and similar materials.
Model 412 Type OOO Durometer The Model 412 has a mainspring with a load force of 113 gf and has a 1/2" hemispherical indenter. This durometer is used to test very soft materials such as open cell foams.
Model 413 Type DO Durometer The Model 413 has a mainspring with a load force of 10 lbs. (2.2 kg) and a 3/32" hemispherical indenter. This instrument is used for checking dense textile windings, medium printing rollers, and similar materials. The Model 413 has a lazy hand (ancillary hand) which holds the maximum reading.
